EAST LANSING, MI –
Michigan State University School of Journalism PhD students Dan Krier and Michele Joseph sat down recently at the Impact 89FM radio station to discuss the current state of sports journalism ethics, as well as the importance of maintaining integrity as a member of the media in the 21st Century.
Topics of discussion include the 8 main categories of possible unethical behavior, based on a book by renowned Indiana University journalism scholar, Dr. David H. Weaver.
Regarding sports media, controversial instances such as steroids in baseball, Reggie Bush at USC, as well as the Penn State Jerry Sandusky scandal are all examined. The cases of Wikileaks, Edward Snowden, as well as whether or not releasing confidential information is ethical are inspected and scrutinized.
Dan Krier and Michele Joseph are entering their second year as doctoral students at Michigan State University.
